Baking Time

Just home from the grocery store .... sigh. Even though I saved about $150 in coupons - I still spent a bit over $300 - so not a really productive couponing day - but did have to pick up lots of "needs" - vitamins for the kids, ect. These things don't go on sale often, and when they do, usually my coupons are expired - so now I buy them when I need them - as long as I have a coupon ! Also stocked up on meats - so the freezer is happy for awhile as well. The best buy (ok, the free mustard, and free pretzels, and free ice cream were pretty good buys) - was bananas - at .49 cents a pound ! Of course, they were just getting brown spots - not going to last long - but when you LOVE banana bread - and your kids LOVE banana bread - 6 lbs of banana's is nothing ! So - with all these bananas - I'm going to try some new recipes - like this one from obsessed with baking DH loves blueberries - and I do have some frozen, so I'll make mine just like hers. Light Banana Bread

Stash Busting 101

Image
The object of "stash busting" was to make as many items as possible from my already "too large to count" stash. Why too large to count, you ask? Because I have it hidden in so many places - by the time I find another rubbermaid tub to go through, I remember where there is more fabric (forgot about the bolts under the bed. So this year - I am going to sew, sew, sew, and not buy, buy, buy. Well, except for this week. This week - while check Craigs List for quilting cabinets (one day I'll own one of those dream Koala type cabinets) I saw quilting kits for sale. Good quality, quilt shop quilt kits. For silly cheap prices. Even if I let the kids learn on one or two of these kits - it was worth the investment. So, sad to say, I did add to my fabric count this week - but I still have 11 months to use it and still end up in negative numbers. If you want to join in the fun and bust your own stash - post your figures with Judy at the Patchwork Times ! So - my Ja

Good Luck to DD

It's time for the Elite Meet again. DD has been swimming well. Maybe one day it'll get her through college - but for now - Mom's just happy that she tries hard at both practice and meets, and she's a great, all-around kid ! I'm proud of you !

Ramblings -

First off - I can easily see how people can quickly become addicted to pain meds. I had foot surgery on Monday - and I've downed about 15 tablets since then. I've had some of the wildest dreams ever - and a permanant, hazy smile - until of course, I try to walk - but even that is getting better. Procedure - I had the plantars fascitus released - amazing difference. Pain went from a constant 8-9 to a nearly nothing. Yes, there is pain where the incision is still fresh - but no more burning, intense pain. Definately would recommend surgery to anyone who suffers from this ! Not sure if he ground down the heel spur or not - I guess I'll find that out once the swelling goes down. I have come to realize just what a great daughter my oldest is - and what a wonderful wife and mom she will oneday make, God willing. She has run this house almost as well as I, for the past 3 days. It takes her longer to accomplish the same things - but she has put food on the table, kept the w

Happy Anniversary

Gotta love a man that leaves a mushy card and this on the kitchen table so it's the first thing you see ! It's just what I wanted - almost a choker type necklace - so dh is good now for another year LOL. Oh, and he also sent me the tree guys. Since we've moved from 20 acres to just over 1 acre - I really miss my "garden". My garden at the old house was as big as my land is now. I guess dh got tired of me complaining all the time about the lack of fresh veggies - so all the pine trees are coming down (could it be also because he doesn't like scooping pine needles out of the pool each summer?) These guys have been working so hard - and don't let the name fool ya - they seem to be really nice young men !

Project #1 - Top Complete - Design Wall Monday

Image
True to my promise to myself - I've found time to turn last Mondays stack of fabrics into a wall-hanging. Next - I need to set up the head caps for our brain study - but tonight I'll try and get this sandwiched and ready to be quilted over the weekend! Next on the design wall - not sure - but I do have a stack of Fred Finstone fabrics that I know just who would love them ! To see what others are working on, check out Judy's site at Patchwork Times !
