Security Freeze - Important
With the upcoming holidays - ask yourself if you are protected from Identity Theft. If you've ever had a purse stolen (or lost) and someone else uses your credit cards, or worse, opens new accounts in YOUR name that you don't even know about until your credit is totally trashed - then you know what a pain it is to try and clear your credit - it can take years, and thousands of dollars.
There has been a new law passed - you can now ask for a credit freeze. It works a bit different in each state (some charge fees, some don't). Basic info is that your credit is frozen - no one can open a new account in your name. You can still use your previously approved credit lines, but thats it. Even employers won't be able to access your credit reports.
Anyway - here in NJ it is something like $5 per freeze - then another $5 if you want to "unlock" your account, either for a specific reason or specific time frame. Anyway - look into it here
