Monday - June 11th

Good morning !! First day of "summer" here since it's the first time I don't have to rush to get Adam ready for his bus. I have my school lessons done and printed for the week. I did get a chance to sew some last night - good feeling. I am slowly getting back most of the movement in my wrist - hopefully no PT - don't have time for that LOL
I forgot to post this after my WW meeting on Saturday - Karen - I think you did an awesome job getting to goal weight !! 6 more weeks and you'll be lifetime !! I think you've done a wonderful job moving more, trying new foods, and you'll be setting a great example - for your family - and your WW family as well !


I didn't stick to my menu's last week - when the sun is out - I want to be bbq'ing - not cooking for real LOL. BUT - this week, I'll try harder. Tonight is leftover bbq'd lamb, and I'll make some scalloped taters or rice. Not sure about veggies - there is enough asparagus leftover for dh, but no more fresh peas ... I have enough for salads - but I guess I better stop at the farm!
No real plans today. Stopped in at Kmart.com first thing this a.m. to check out todays sale items (I need new sheets for the girls' beds) but of course, they are already sold out of almost everything. Yesterday I tried to get new bath rugs for their bathrooms (the hot pink would NOT have matched well in our guest bathroom LOL) No problem ordering it - but shipping was about $45 !! For 3 small carpets??? I think there was an error - because the vacuum I ordered the day before (plus a whole lot of other stuff) was less than $20 shipping ! Oh well, I guess they didn't NEED hot pink bath rugs....
Dell deals start tomorrow - if you need a new computer - nows the time. Scroll down to yesterdays (or was that Saturdays) entry and click on that link - it should take you right to that days sales. Dell sometimes sets a limit as to how many units they'll sell at a certain price - I'll be posting that information, as well as any coupon codes I come across right below the same link.

Design Wall Monday

I am so happy to have something to share this week.  About a month ago, I received some inspiration from another blogger on Design Wall Monday - hosted by Judy at Patchwork Times .  I immediately fell in love with the star quilt that Kate from Life in Pieces   had put together using the pattern from Country Junktion .  I knew immediately that I could use it as the center of a quilt, and finally use those garden maze blocks that were sitting in my UFO pile.  What do you think ? This is the quilt made from the BOM pattern alone This is that same quilt surrounded by my garden maze blocks I started sewing the garden maze blocks together to see how big of a border I will be needing around the star blocks.  Now to figure out if I should border around each block, or just around the outside of the stars - what do you think?

Design Floor Monday

Thanks to Judy at Patchwork Times , I'm encouraged each week to have something new to show on my design floor (most people have a design wall ..... one day when I grow up, I'll have one too !) This week I'm taking out some UFO's from 2 years ago - I love these blocks, I made plenty of them for a wall hanging, but then I just kept making more and more, until I knew I wanted a bed size quilt.  I was going to lay them out in a 5 by 7 blocks, but since these are 9" blocks - and since the blocks I want to make as a border block are 13" blocks - I thought maybe it'd be easier to do 6 by 6 - so I need to make one more of these.  Gotta figure out how to get this block into my EQ program, because this is the block I want to use as a border I was going to make a bunch of these, all with blue star middles, but with different batiks on the outside color.  Of course, I could do THESE blocks for the main part of the quilt and use the others as a border ....  eit
